Etsy Fees Explained (2026): What You Actually Pay Per Sale
Disclosure: some links below are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes the price you pay or our fee maths. Details.
Etsy does not charge a monthly subscription for a standard shop, but each sale carries several separate fees. Here is each one, in the order they usually hit your balance, and then two worked examples.
1. Listing fee: US$0.20 per listing
Etsy charges US$0.20 each time a listing is created or renewed. Listings last four months or until they sell. If a listing has multiple quantities, it is renewed (and charged US$0.20 again) after each item sells. You pay whether or not the item sells, and there is no fee for editing a listing. You can switch off auto-renew per listing in the Listings Manager.
2. Transaction fee: 6.5%
Etsy takes 6.5% of the price you display plus what you charge for shipping and gift wrapping. Sellers outside the US should note that the fee applies to the listing price including any taxes you, as the seller, are responsible for. Etsy says US sellers do not pay the transaction fee on sales tax.
3. Payment processing fee: depends on your bank's country
If you use Etsy Payments, the processing fee is a percentage plus a flat amount, set by the country where your bank account is. It is charged on the total sale price including shipping and any sales tax. Examples from Etsy's table:
| Bank account location | Processing fee |
|---|---|
| United States | 3% + US$0.25 |
| United Kingdom | 4% + £0.20 |
| Germany, France, Italy and most Eurozone countries | 4% + €0.30 |
| Israel | 4.5% + 2 ILS |
| Canada (international orders) | 4% + CA$0.25 |
See the full country table. Some countries, including Israel, also have a deposit fee when a payout is small; see selling on Etsy from Israel.
4. Offsite Ads fee: 15% or 12%, only on ad-attributed orders
If a buyer clicks one of Etsy's off-Etsy ads (Google, Meta, Pinterest, Bing and others) and buys from your shop within 30 days, you pay 15% of that order if your shop has always made under US$10,000 in any 365-day period, or 12% once it has made US$10,000 or more. The fee on any one order never exceeds US$100. Shops under the threshold can opt out; shops over it cannot. More in Offsite Ads explained.
Worked example A: seller with an Israeli bank account
You sell an item for ₪100 and charge ₪20 shipping. Order total: ₪120.
| Fee | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% × ₪120 | ₪7.80 |
| Payment processing | 4.5% × ₪120 + ₪2 | ₪7.40 |
| Total (excluding the US$0.20 listing fee) | ₪15.20 (about 12.7% of the order) | |
| If the order came from an Offsite Ad | + 15% × ₪120 | + ₪18.00 → ₪33.20 (about 27.7%) |
This is an illustration for arithmetic only. It assumes no buyer-side taxes and applies the Offsite Ads percentage to the full order total, which is our approximation; check your own order statements.
Worked example B: seller with a US bank account
Item US$25 plus US$5 shipping, no sales tax involved: total US$30.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% × 30 = US$1.95
- Payment processing: 3% × 30 + 0.25 = US$1.15
- Total: US$3.10 (about 10.3%), again before the listing fee.
What the examples show
- The flat processing fee hurts low-priced items more than high-priced ones.
- Shipping you charge is part of the fee base, so "free shipping" priced into the item changes the fee base only slightly, but it can make your price look higher.
- One Offsite Ads sale can cost more than all other fees combined, so price with it in mind. Our fee and profit calculator lets you toggle it.
Not included here: your own income tax or VAT, currency-conversion costs when listing in a currency other than your payment account's, Etsy Ads (the on-platform ads you pay for in advance) and refunds. Next step: how to price Etsy products so your margin survives these fees.
