Selling on Etsy from India (2026): Fees, Payments, Tax Basics
Short answer: India is on Etsy's Etsy Payments fee table. On top of the 6.5% transaction fee and the US$0.20 listing fee, a seller whose bank account is in India pays 5% + 25 INR per order.
Etsy fees for sellers in India
- Listing fee: US$0.20 per listing, each time it is created or renewed (listings last four months or until sold).
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping and gift wrap you charge.
- Payment processing: 5% + 25 INR per order, charged on the total sale price including shipping and any sales tax. Etsy says processing fees are subject to VAT where required.
- Currency: Etsy lists India's processing fee as 5% + 25 INR. In our reading of Etsy's country list, Indian sellers are paid via a Payoneer payment account rather than a direct local bank deposit; check Etsy's current eligibility page. Payoneer's own withdrawal fees are separate and are not included here. The listing fee is charged as US$0.20 and converted.
Offsite Ads
If a buyer clicks one of Etsy's off-site ads and buys within 30 days, you pay 15% of the order while your shop has always made under US$10,000 in any 365-day period (you may opt out), or 12% once you pass US$10,000 (opting out is no longer possible). The fee on a single order is capped at US$100, and revenue in other currencies is converted to USD to test the threshold. More in Offsite Ads explained.
Worked example in INR
An item at ₹2,000.00 plus ₹400.00 shipping, no buyer taxes: order total ₹2,400.00.
| Fee | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% × ₹2,400.00 | ₹156.00 |
| Payment processing | 5% × ₹2,400.00 + ₹25.00 | ₹145.00 |
| Total (excluding the US$0.20 listing fee) | ₹301.00 (about 12.5% of the order) | |
| If the order came from an Offsite Ad (15%) | + 15% × ₹2,400.00 | + ₹360.00 → ₹661.00 (about 27.5%) |
Arithmetic illustration only. Offsite Ads is applied to the full order total as an approximation; check your own statements.
Tax and registration pointers (not tax advice)
We are not accountants. These pointers come from official government pages linked below; rules change and depend on your situation, so confirm with a qualified adviser.
- Etsy income is taxable business income in India; file through the Income Tax Department's e-filing portal.
- GST: rules for sellers on e-commerce marketplaces and for exports differ from ordinary shops and have changed over time, so we do not quote a threshold. Check the GST portal and speak to a chartered accountant before you start selling at volume.
- Payments received from abroad may also have foreign-exchange paperwork (for example inward-remittance certificates from your bank or Payoneer). Keep them for your accountant.
